Boys Lacrosse: Gabriel Richard knocks off Dexter 13-7

The Gabriel Richard boys’ lacrosse team heads to Easter Break with a little “spring” in their step following an impressive 13-7 win Wednesday over visiting Dexter in a non-league game at Richard.

The Irish turned a close game into a 5-3 lead after one quarter and eventually pulled away from the Dreadnaughts.

“Dexter is a good team and a well-coached team so we are pleased to get the win,” said Gabriel Richard Coach Sean Brosnan. “We have some experienced players and good senior leadership. We have a pretty experienced team.”

That experienced showed as the Irish did a good job controlling play for most of the game, showing good composure and executing well at both ends of the field.

Mike Ross and Matt Rushing each scored three goals in the win. Jacob Russell also had three goals, netting the first three Richard goals of the game.

The Irish take a couple weeks off and return to action against Riverview Gabriel Richard and Dearborn Divine Child in Catholic League D-2 matchups.
