Tennis: Huron knocks off Chelsea 5-3 in dual match

The Huron girls’ varsity tennis team won their first dual match of the season on April 13 as the River Rats beat Chelsea 5-3.

It came down to three matches going to a third set that would decide the outcome.

At three singles, Emma Parkin overcame a tough first set lost in cruising to 6-0, 6-0 second and third sets that gave the match win for Huron. Yuki Sugiyama played a competitive first match at four singles. Rosie Li and Julie Heng won their first match of the season at two doubles.

The River Rats host Bloomfield Hills and Novi this week.

Shalini Roy and Caroline Bromberg (4 Double) lost 7-5, 2-6, 3-6
