The Pioneer girls’ track team added another win this season, winning the April Showers Relays in Dexter with a total of 105 points.
Livonia Churchill ran second with 65 points with Saline third with 45 points. Pioneer entered a “B” team and that team placed 11th with 20 points. A total of 21 teams participated in the event on a day that started out pretty chilly, but ended with some great weather and some awesome performances.
Relay teams that placed first for Pioneer included the Shuttle Hurdle Relay (Gigi Boyd, Cori Griffen, Vanessa Woolley, Britten Bowen); 4x800m Relay (Anne Forsyth, Libby Kos, Sydney Dawes, Jacalyn Overdier); 3x300m Hurdle Relay (Alice Hill, Hailey Mayes, Cori Griffen); 1600m Sprint Medley Relay (400-200-200-800) (Stella Weinberg, Alexa Easter, Jayla Johnson, Alice Hill); 800m Sprint Medley Relay (200-100-100-400) (Britten Bowen, Cori Griffen, Janea Pryor, Hailey Mayes); 4x100m Relay (Cori Griffen, Janeaa Pryor, Alexia Easley, Britten Bowen); and 4x400m Relay (Stella Weinberg, Triniah Johnson, Alice Hill, Hailey Mayes).
The 800-meter Sprint Medley Relay set both a meet record and a school record of 1:49.50. Anne Forsyth won the 1600 while Jacalyn Overdier finished second.
On April 18, Pioneer girls scored an impressive 100-37 win over Saline.
The Pioneers won all but three events, placing second in those events they did not win.
Rachel Pacernick and Derin Adunbi both had all-time bests in all three events in which they participated.
Event winners included Britten Bowen in 100m, 200m, and 100m hurdles, Alice Hill in 400m, Sydney Dawes in 800m, Anne Forsyth in 1600m, Anna Vogel in 3200m, Hailey Mayes in 300m hurdles, Derin Adunbi in shot put, and Lakeia Harris in long jump.
In addition, all four relays finished first.
