Northern Illinois University is holding a public referendum on the “Play of the Year” between several athletes involved in the college’s athletics program, including Jamyra Carter.
Carter, an Ann Arbor native and athlete, is one of the remarkable athletes up for the PotY honor this year, which will be celebrated at NIU’s Victors Award Banquet next Tuesday.
A video promoting each athlete and their potential play of the year can be found on a post on the NIU website.
Carter’s mother Tina Blair-Matter submitted the information for this post, including the fact that the play in question was a 9.95 gymnastic bar routine.
She attended St. Francis and Huron High School and personally trained as a gymnast from childhood at Gym America Gymnastics in Ann Arbor, as well as Splitz Gynmastics in Canton during her last few years before college, according to Blair-Matter.
Voting in the NIU poll is open until April 28 and it’s one vote per supporter.
