The Pioneer softball team blanked host Bedford 3-0 in the second game of a doubleheader to earn a split with the Kicking Mules on Monday.
Mimi Maixner pitched the Pioneers into the win column by not allowing a run in the victory.
Pioneer captured the lead in the first inning when Taryn Curtis singled in the first inning, scoring one run.
Maixner earned the win for Pioneer as she went seven innings, allowing just five hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
Pioneer collected eight hits with Curtis and Lizzie Kuras each managing two hits to lead Ann Arbor. One of Curtis’ hits was a triple to the fence. She also led the teams with two RBI.
The defense was outstanding with only one error for the Pioneers.
Despite taking an early lead in the opener, the Pioneers fell 8-2 to Bedford.
Maixner took the loss for Pioneer. She threw six innings, giving up eight runs, eight hits, and striking out five.
Maixner had two hits to lead Pioneer and Lizzie Kuras and Taryn Curtis each drove in one run in the first contest.
Pioneer returns to action on Wednesday with a doubleheader against Adrian.
