Soccer: Baker ties school record with five goals in a game

Coming off mercy wins over Monroe and Bedford, the Huron soccer team figured three times was a charm worth enjoying as they routed Tecumseh 8-0.

It was a game Jess Baker won’t soon forget. Baker scored five of Huron’s eight goals, tying a school record for most goals in a game. Grace Tremonti and Minna Tremonti also kicked their way onto the score sheet

Freshman Sienna Smith scored the eighth goal with 12 minutes left in the first half.

“I was able to play my JV squad for 20 minutes of the first half again and still manage to get the shutout,” said Huron Coach Lee Hudson. “All the goals were great quality with four of the eight goals coming from outside the 18-yard box.”

Huron hosts Pioneer at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
