Golf: River Rats swing into second place in tri-match


The Huron girls’ golf team played host to Monroe and Tecumseh on Friday.

It was a great showing for all golfers completing a team score for the first time this year.


The River Rats fell to Tecumseh but got the win against Monroe. Tecumseh fired a team score of 214 while Huron shot a 237 and Monroe carded a 277.

A career best was shot by Huron sophomore Karli Messer with a 42, which was the top individual score in the SEC match.

Overall scores for the River Rats were juniors Shreya Banda (74), Sienna Blazevski (61) and Joann Cho (60).

Earlier in the week, Huron defeated Lincoln 115-104.

Messer was the overall low score with a total of 48. Her highlight included and 30-foot putt that fell for a birdie on hole 4 of Pine View. Huron’s other score came from Cho who totaled 56.
