U-M Men’s Soccer: Wolverines return home following loss to ND

The Michigan men’s soccer team returns to Ann Arbor on Saturday to face Omaha looking to rebound from a tough 3-1 loss to Notre Dame in South Bend on Tuesday.

The No. 24 ranked Wolverines fall to 7-4-2 on the season while the seventh-ranked Fighting Irish improved to 8-3-1. All four goals came in the second half after a scoreless first half.

Junior Robbie Mertz scored for Michigan. With an assist from Jack Hallahan, Mertz scored in the 65th minute for his second of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Hallahan has a team-best five assists on the season.

Jon Gallagher would score at 81:41 to give the Fighting Irish a 2-1 lead and then again at 89:38 to push the hosts lead to 3-1.

The Wolverines used their ninth different starting lineup this season against ND.

The game with Omaha kicks off at 4 p.m. The Mavericks are 7-3-2 and coming off a 3-2 loss to Florida Gulf Coast.
