Pioneer, playing in back-to-back games, wasted no time Tuesday night in showing Monroe that they weren’t suffering from tired legs. In fact, the Pioneers looked the opposite of tired, running up the score in the first quarter to the tune of 25-6.
Pioneer led 37-10 at halftime and cruised to a 64-28 win over the Trojans.
Junior Kasean Pryor made 7 of 11 field goals and finished with a game-high 16 points. He also had six rebounds. Mac VanRenterghem made 6 of 8 field goals and scored 14 points.
Drew Lowder had 11 points, Cortez Thomas scored eight and Aidan Wright had seven points in the win.
The Pioneers made 24 of 46 shots (52.2 percent) field-goal attempts from the floor.
Pioneer hosts Huron on Friday night. The girls will play first at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys. The River Rats won the first meeting between the city rivals earlier in the season.
