Theft and burglary were the two leading crimes of choice in the downtown area lately.
Four burglaries were reported between Tuesday, Feb. 20, and Monday, Feb. 26. The first took place on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m., via forced entry at a non-residential building at the 1000 block of Broadway St.
At midnight the next night, a prowler invaded a home at the 700 block of Lawrence St. The property also sustained damage.
On Sunday, Feb. 25, two burglaries were reported. The 700 block of Lawrence St. was hit again at 5:55 a.m. and then at 11:33 p.m. an intruder forced their way into a residence at the 900 block of E. Ann St.
An ID and credit cards were stolen right out from under a patron’s nose at a restaurant at the 100 block of W. Liberty St. at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22. The victim put these items on the table, looked away and when she turned back around they were missing. There is no known suspect.
A local man who left his wallet and phone unsecure inside a building at the 400 block of W. Washington St., became a victim of theft between 2:45-6:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. The suspect is unknown.
Two vehicle break-ins occurred in this neighborhood.
Personal property was taken out of a vehicle at the 1000 block of S. Forest Ave., on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 12 a.m. A vehicle located at the 2200 block of St. Francis Dr. was broken into at 12:41 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21. These cases are both open and no further information can be released.
A truck sustained multiple deep scratches on its door between 8 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 21, on Carrot Way. It is unknown how the damage occurred.
Additionally, a burglar struck at a home on the north side of town on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 8 p.m., at the 2400 block of Sandalwood Cir.
Theft was prevalent on the east side of town.
Several hundred dollars in cash were taken out of a jacket at a restaurant at the 3600 block of Washtenaw Ave., between Friday, Feb. 23, at 5 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 24, at 12 a.m. Another incident of theft occurred at the 1600 block of Meadowside Dr., on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 12:20 p.m.
Theft continued in south Ann Arbor when a Land Rover was stolen from a driveway at the 2500 block of Elmwood Ave., at some point between Thursday, Feb. 22, at 11:50 a.m., and Friday, Feb. 23, at 9:15 a.m. The vehicle is still missing and there is no suspect.
Medicine was taken from a hotel room at the 1400 block of Briarwood Cir. on Sunday, Feb. 25, between 12-4 p.m. and a third incident of theft was reported in the south at a public building at the 100 block of Briarwood Cir., on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11:53 a.m.
