“We Race Boxcars Downhill to Fight the Uphill Battle with ALS”
The 10th annual Box Car Derby races to support ALS research on Sunday presented by Phi Delta Theta – UM & Ann Arbor Active Against ALS. The fun and popular event is from 1 to 4 p.m.
The race course on Keech by the north entrance to the Michigan Stadium. Join the fun in front of the Big House to support, watch or compete in our bracket-style, boxcar racing tournament. Teams will be comprised of fraternities, sororities, UMich organizations, and kids throughout the Ann Arbor community.
In addition to fierce competition, delicious food and enjoying a great Spring day at the Big House, there will be an abundance of prizes for raise participants! All proceeds will go directly to help fund ALS research.

THREE RACE DIVISIONS:
• 9 and Under Classic Car division (ages 5-9)
• Open Classic Car division (ages 10+)
• Big Kid division, bigger boxcars (ages 16+ including adults)
Trophies to Top Finishers, Runner-up and Best-Decorated in each division.
• Classic Boxcars – BUILD, PRE-BUILT, or BORROW:
available for the 9 and Under and Open divisions while supplies last – Build your own from a kit ($40), paint and race a Pre-Built boxcar ($40), or borrow one at the event.
- Big Kid Boxcars – BUILD, PRE-BUILT, RENT or BORROW:
available for the Big Kid division (ages 16+ including adults) — bigger, faster cars with sweet rims to really cruise at the Big House! Build your own from a kit ($60), paint and race a Pre-Built boxcar ($60), Rent a boxcar ($30), or borrow one at the event.
