Local expo possible cure for families under financial stress due to medical bills

The Great Humanity Healthcare Fund (GHHF) will host a Family Health & Wellness Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Briarwood Mall.

GHHF was founded because of one statistic: 60 percent of bankruptcies are not from credit card or mortgage related debt; they are due to healthcare costs. The expos are to provide the public with health and wellness information and all proceeds will be contributed to GHHF.

The event, free to the public, will include free health screenings, wellness, fitness, and nutrition information, medical equipment, and much more.

Thank you to current exhibitors and sponsors: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor Observer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Cypress Counseling Center, GH2 Benefits, and Martinizing of Ann Arbor.

There are still exhibitor spots available.  Please contact GHHF for more information on becoming an exhibitor.

Because of costs, 34 percent of adults ages 19-64 did not visit a doctor or clinic, fill a prescription, skipped a recommended test, treatment, or follow-up, or did not get needed specialist care. One in five working-age Americans with health insurance reported struggling with paying medical bills.

The GHHF was created to help and will directly benefit families and individuals fill the gap between insurance and healthcare bills.  The GHHF’s service is also intended to benefit local businesses and the overall economy; if people are less concerned about medical costs, they are more likely to eat out, go to the movies, travel, invest in their education, and take necessary medical tests to ensure continued good health.
