Boys Cross Country: Skyline wins Bath Invitational; Huron takes sixth


The Skyline boys’ cross country team hit their stride last Saturday at the Bret Clements Bath Invitational.

The Eagles ran away with first place – well, by seven points – with 112 points. Saline took a close second with 119 points followed by Pewamo-Westphalia (123), Caro (130) and Hudsonville (130).

Huron ran sixth overall out of 15 teams with 142 points.

The Eagles landed two runners in the top 10. Junior Thomas Young placed sixth overall with a time of 16:05.1 and senior Keegan Oldani placed 10th with a time of 16:18.9.

Two other Eagles finished among the top 20. Junior Daniel Evans was 14th in 16:27.6 while sophomore Hobbs Kessler placed 19th in 16:38.2.

Other top finishers for Skyline included David Evans (63rd, 17:32.7); freshman Sanjay Rao (72nd, 17:42.2); and senior Nathan Zonnevylle (87th, 18:10.9).

Huron Karsin Dass led the way for the River Rats. The junior finished in 11th place with a time of 16:21.9. Senior Jack Santinga placed 21st in 16:39.7.

Other top finishers for the River Rats were senior Bertrand Chu (17:00.1); senior James Cardwell (37th, 17:02.2); senior Robert Burke (39th, 17:03); sophomore Donovan Smith (55th, 17:22.4); junior Yaseen Dauod (65th, 17:36.5); and sophomore Michael Hill-Carruthers (17:40.9).
