Softball: Pioneers fall to visiting Saline, 12-2


The Pioneer softball team was competitive with talented Saline for a couple innings before the Hornets broke it open with three runs in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth for a 12-2 win on Monday at Pioneer HS.
Pioneer had six hits but four errors while the Hornets had 14 hits and did not make an error in the game.
Mimi Maixner took the loss for Pioneer. She went seven innings striking out six.
Oliva Gregory led the Pioneers with two hits. Jane Mintz doubled and Taryn Curtis tripled for the Pioneers. Ava Seldin and Franny Schulenberg each drove in one run to lead Pioneer.

Saline’s four-run fifth was led by a double by Brooke Bauer and a home run by Amanda Enners. Bauer also hit a HR in the fourth.

The Pioneers play at Dexter on Wednesday.
