Softball: Pioneers sweep Ypsilanti Community


The Pioneer softball team swept a doubleheader on Wednesday against Ypsilanti with a 7-2 victory in the second game. The game was tied at 2-2 with Pioneer batting in the bottom of the sixth when there was an error, scoring one run.

Mimi Maixner earned the win for Pioneer. She threw seven innings, surrendering two runs, eight hits, striking out nine, and walking zero.

Maixner led the team offensively with two hits and Taryn Curtis and Ava Seldin led the team defensively.

Pioneer won the first game 15-0 in three innings.

The team collected nine hits and Mimi Maixner and Ava Seldin led the team with a double each. Franny Schulenberg and Olivia Gregory had two hits each. Jane Mintz scored three runs and offensively the team had zero strikeouts.

Maixner was the winning pitcher only giving up one hit, zero walks, and striking out four.

Pioneer had no defensive errors.
