In a county like Washtenaw with a city like Ann Arbor within such close proximity, a village like Barton Hills with less than 300 people looks like more of a neighborhood on paper.
It certainly feels like a neighborhood when you’re driving through this storied part of Ann Arbor Township.
Did you know that Barton Hills was established by Detroit Edison in 1913 as Huron Farms? DEC had its eyes set on the Huron River for dam construction and so purchased land on either side of it.
Barton Hills is an interesting little piece of geography, whether you view it as its legally defined or how it feels when you’re visiting.
