Roundup: Pioneer soccer wins; golf team places third



The Pioneer boys’ soccer team scored a 2-1 win Tuesday over visiting Northville. The Pioneers got a goal from Jonah Gutenberg unassisted.

In the final 40 seconds of the game, Christian Sartori scored the game winner on a pass from Andrew Lee.


The Pioneer girls’ team competed in the Carlson Invitational at Lake Erie Metro Park G.C. This event was a nine-hole modified format tournament. Claire Middleton and Josie Stalmack played as individuals, they scored 44 and 58 respectively. Erica Liu and Katie Liu played in the alternate shot event and scored 55 and Olivia Lyle and Sooah Jung played in the scramble event and shot 44 which was good for third place in their event.

When all the events were added together, Pioneer finished third out of 12 teams.

On Monday, the Pioneers took fourth in the Tecumseh Invitational on. The event was played at Hantz C.C., a par 72 course.

The team was led by Claire Middleton who scored 99, Josie Stalmack scored 102, Olivia Lyle scored 108 and Katie Liu shot 109.
