High School Roundup: Pioneer golf and soccer



The Pioneer varsity girls’ golf team played their first SEC match of the season against Saline High School with the Hornets buzzing to a 196-153 win on Thursday. The two teams played at Lake Forest Golf Course in Ann Arbor.

The Pioneers were led by junior Claire Middleton who came in with a 40, followed by Senior Katie Mina Lee shooting a 41. Sophomore Olivia Lyle shot a 52.

Rounding up the Pioneers scores with a tie of 53 were senior Josie Stalmack and sophomore Sooah Jung.


The Pioneers continue to play quality teams as they kick their way toward a busy SEC schedule. On Saturday, the Pioneers fell to Warren De La Salle 1-0.

Avi Wiengarten played goal for the Pioneers.

On Thursday, the Pioneers lost to Rochester Adams 1-0.

Caleb Shoup started in goal for Pioneer.
