Girls Basketball: The Eagles have landed – in the win column

The young Skyline girls’ basketball team, which features a roster void of seniors, has been showing steady improvement since first bouncing the ball last month. That improvement led to the team’s first win of the season on Wednesday with a 38-36 win over South Lyon East at the Northville Holiday Tournament.

This win didn’t come easily.

Skyline started the game with just six players, and had to finish the last three quarters with five players due to an injury at the end of the first quarter to sophomore guard Alaina Heetderks.
Skyline freshman Lauren Courtright led all scorers with 16 points. Courtright is just a freshman, but the 5-11 guard-forward shows great promise and flashed some of that promise in the win.

Renee Faulkner, only a sophomore, had eight points in the win.
