Educational Foundation Of Dexter Reports Over $27K In Grants

The Educational Foundation of Dexter (EFD) reported the results of their Fall 2017 Grant Cycle to the Dexter Board of Education at Monday night’s meeting.  Organized in 1984, the EFD supports high quality education enhancements for students enrolled in the Dexter Community School District through teacher authored grants.

“We are so pleased with the results of our 2017 Fall Grant Cycle,” said EFD President, Lori Moss.  “We received a record number of grants and were able to fund a large percentage of them.  We funded, in partial or in full, nineteen grants for a total of $27,990.46.”

“For the first time ever, the EFD received grant applications from each of the Dexter learning campuses, including first time grant recipients Jenkins Early Childhood Learning Center and the Alternative Education High school,” continued Moss. “That means that grants awarded in our Fall Grant Cycle directly impacted students at every campus in Dexter.”

The Educational Foundation of Dexter is a non-profit, volunteer organization whose board members include parents, community members, business owners, and educators.  Through their Spring and Fall Grant cycles, the EFD provides an opportunity to directly impact the education of Dexter students by funding creative and innovative programs and initiatives which cannot otherwise be funded by the district.

The EFD has awarded over $850,000 since 1985. The teacher authored grants funded have benefited every building in the district. To learn about the Fall 2017 grants awarded, please visit
