Boys Swimming: Huron loses close race with Grosse Pointe South

 

The Huron boys’ swimming and diving team lost a close meet to Grosse Pointe South 95-81 on Tuesday night. The River Rats fall to 4-3 on the season.

The River Rats 200 medley relay team of Jonathan Wang, AJ Stewart, Arthur Zhang and Adam Moskus finished second in 1:42.26. The race was close right to the finish with GP South touching in 1:42.09 – yeah, that close!

In the 200 freestyle, Alex Kaipainen (1:53.55) and Yoshki Wurtz (1:54.19) placed second and third for the River Rats.

In the 200 IM, Wang swam to the victory in 2:03.01 with freshman Eli Atkinson in third (2:11.77).

Moskus, a senior, won the 50 freestyle in 22.17.

Huron dominated the diving event. Kyle Huehn was first (259.04 points), Nick Zacharek was second (210.67), Ben Reynolds third (132.45) and Max Fraser fourth (128.55).

AJ Stewart placed second in the 100 fly in 55.65.

Adam Moskus won the 100 free in 48.29.

Sophomore Ben Hires (5:06.03) and Atkinson (5:09.34) took the top two spots in the 500 free.

Huron’s foursome of Stewart, Jorge DiGiovanni, Moskus and Kaipainen was second in the 200 free relay in 1:32.37. The River Rats lost in a close race as GP South touched in 1:32.32.

Wang was edged out in the 100 back and placed second in 55.82.

Arthur Zhang placed third the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.82.

Huron (Wang, Wurtz, Atkinson and Dane Hubers) took second in the 400 free relay in 3:28.55.

Huron’s next meet will be against Dexter and Skyline on Thursday at the Huron Ratatorium.
