Coming soon: Dexter Drama Club presents “On the Town” Feb. 15-18

Ainsley Grace and her Dexter classmates are all fired up over the school’s latest play that hits the stage starting on Thursday, Feb. 15. The Dexter Drama Club presents “On The Town,” a story of three sailors who have 24 hours to spend in NYC, all with different goals and all have crazy adventures.

Grace and her fellow students are having “crazy” fun putting it together.

“I am super excited,” says Grace, a junior who is one of three assistant stage managers along with Ethan Dixon and Emily Oberg. “We attend every rehearsal, make notes of everything, and have to anticipate the directors and choreographers. It sounds stressful but it’s a lot of fun.”

Caleb Polacek is the production’s stage manager and stars Jared Scott, James Beauregard, and Stanley Misevich (poster, left to right) as the three sailors out on the town in the Big Apple.

“Rehearsals have gone great,” Grace says. “Everyone is learning their parts and we just get to have a lot of fun together. We’ve been rehearsing since November.

“I think the audience will enjoy the dancing the most. The dancing is a lot of fun and the actors are all so talented.”

Grace believes the audience will have as much fun watching it as the drama club enjoys presenting it.

“I like the energy of the story the most,” she says. “It’s your typical cheesy old timey musical but everyone just breathes a lot of life into their roles. It’s going to be such a fun night out for the audience.”

The play runs Feb. 15-18. Tickets are available at Dexterdrama.org.
