Boys Basketball: Dreadnaughts knock off Lincoln in SEC showdown

The Dexter boys’ basketball team dominated the boards – both the glass and the scoreboard – in an impressive 59-38 win over host Lincoln in a huge SEC showdown Tuesday night.

“It was a total team effort,” said Dexter Coach Tim Cain. “We were plus 12 on the glass and a big part of that success was due to Drake Doyle. He is really bringing a lot of energy to our team right now.”

Sophomore Marco Lucchesi had another big game offensively, leading the Dreadnaughts with 15 points. Senior Brady Rosen also played well, scoring 12 points in the win.

“Senior Drew Bishop is still battling some illness and all our guards have really picked up the slack,” Cain said. “Lucchesi is shooting the ball really well and when we get 3-4 guys going at one time we are really hard to beat.”

But Dexter basketball is all about defense and that part of the Dreads’ game was solid against the Railsplitters.

“Of course we still consider ourselves a defensive team and the boys are really executing our defensive schemes,” Cain said. “Today was a good day but we still have a lot of work to do.”
