Boys Basketball: Pioneers knock off Roseville, host Skyline on Thursday

Pioneer jumped out to a 20-9 first-quarter lead and never looked back in a 61-47 victory Monday over Roseville in a non-league game at Pioneer. The Pioneers host undefeated and state-ranked Skyline on Thursday following the Eagles’ win Monday over Huron.

The teams played even in the second quarter 16-16 but the Pioneers extended the lead with a 14-7 run in the third quarter.

The home team was impressive on the glass and in the scorebook. Pioneer outrebounded Roseville 30-16 and had four players reach double-figures.

Senior Jacob Williams (5 of 10 from the floor) and sophomore Robert VanRenterghem (10 rebounds) each scored 11 points in the win. Senior Drew Lowder, who continues to work himself back into game shape, finished with 10 points, four steals, three assists and just one turnover.
