Boys Basketball: Dreads knock off Bulldogs to sweep season series

Dexter’s Brady Rosen had a huge night, especially when it counted the most, for the host Dreadnaughts in the team’s 37-36 over Chelsea on Thursday night as the Dreads pulled off a season sweep against the rival Bulldogs.

Rosen scored seven of his team’s 10 points in the final quarter to help lift the Dreads into the win column and keep the club in contention for the SEC White Division title. Dexter travels to Ypsilanti on Tuesday for a rematch with the Grizzlies with the league title on the line. The Dreadnaughts beat Ypsilanti on Jan. 23.

Also in the fourth quarter, Dexter super sophomore Marco Lucchesi knocked down a triple to help the home team outscore the Bulldogs 10-5 in the final period.

Rosen, the talented senior forward, helped get the Dreads off to a strong start. He nailed two triples and a field goal to score eight points and help the hosts outscore the visitors 13-7 to start the game.

Chelsea outscored Dexter 11-5 in the second quarter as the teams headed to halftime deadlocked at 18-18. The Bulldogs outscored the Dreads 13-9 in the third quarter to take a 31-27 lead into the final period.

Rosen finished with a game-high 18 points including four triples. Senior guard Drew Bishop had seven points, Lucchesi finished with six, Drake Doyle scored four and Josh Paquin scored two in a game where every point mattered.
