Boys Swimming: Eagles out-touch Saline in SEC powerhouse dual-meet


Skyline defeated Saline 95-91 in a dual-meet on Thursday in a showdown between two of the top swimming programs in the state at Saline High School.

The Eagles touched a close second in the opening medley relay. The team of David Cleason, Michael MacGillivray, Kyle Tschannen and Wilson Noll finished in 1:37.59, a second behind Saline’s 1:37.00.

Skyline senior Samuel Jyawook won the 200 freestyle in 1:43.17 with teammate Keith Kozma touching third in 1:49.70.

The Eagles went one-three again in the IM with MacGillivray taking first place in 1:52.85 and Cleason grabbing third 1:58.23.

Tschannen was third in the 50 free with a time of 22.46.

Junior Henry Schirmer brought home first-place points in diving with a score of 313.90. Skyline’s Andrew Ceely was third with 199.80 points.

Tschannen won the butterfly in 53.07 with teammate Ben Keith taking third in 53.77.

Jyawook won his second individual race of the day when the touched first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.51.

Kozma was second in the 500 free in 4:52.25 with Cleason in third in 4:54.81.

Skyline was second in the 200 free relay. The team of Jyawook, Kareem El-Tawil, Noll and Kozma finished in 1:30.83 to Saline’s 1:28.64.

Skyline senior Sam Konigsberg won the backstroke in 54.22.

MacGillivray won the breaststroke in 57.07.

The Eagles won the meet with a first place in the 400 free relay. The team of Tschannen, Jyawook, Cleason and MacGillivray won in 3:18.23. The Skyline team of Keith, Kozma, Konigsberg and Matteo Procoppe took second in 3:25.63.
