Boys Basketball: Pioneer bounces back, bounce Bedford 84-65


Bedford never had a chance.

The Pioneer boys’ basketball team bounced back from its tough loss to city-rival Skyline last Thursday with an 84-65 victory over the Kicking Mules on Monday night in an SEC White showdown.

The Pioneers jumped out to an 18-11 first-quarter lead and never looked back. They led 34-26 at halftime and opened up the game by outscoring Bedford 22-13 in the third quarter.

The Pioneers outrebounded the Kicking Mules 30-22.

Kasean Pryor continues to excel for the Pioneers. The junior had a double-double with a team-high 21 points (8 of 12 from the floor shooting) and 14 rebounds. He also had three steals and three assists in an all-around solid game.

Junior guard Drew Lowder finished with 15 points and three assists. Senior guard Jack Fitzgerald made 6 of 9 shots and finished with 14 points. He also had four rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Senior Jacob Williams had 10 points and a team-high eight assists along with three steals. Aidan Wright scored eight and Cortez Thomas and Mac VanRenterghem each scored six in the win.

The Pioneers played Monroe on Tuesday (Feb. 20) and host Huron on Friday night.
