Boys Basketball: Dexter opens Districts with blowout win over Pinckney

The Dexter boys’ basketball team took a 22-2 first quarter lead and never looked back in a 72-53 win over Pinckney in a first-round District game Monday at Skyline High School.

The Dreadnaughts will face a much stronger Huron team in Wednesday’s semifinal. Skyline will play Romulus in the first game at 5 p.m. followed by the Dreads-River Rats at 7 p.m. The finals are at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Dexter jumped early and often in this game. A three-pointer by Drew Bishop gave Dexter an 11-2 lead with 3:15 left in the opening quarter. A layup by Marco Lucchesi stretched the lead to 15-2 and then a triple from Lucchesi, a sophomore, gave Dexter a 20-2 lead.

The Dreads led 43-15 at halftime.

Bishop, the talented senior guard, had nine of his team-high 18 points in the first quarter. Senior Brady Rosen scored eight of his 16 points in the second quarter. Lucchesi finished with 15 points and Zach Condron scored nine.

Every player in uniform for Dexter landed in the scorebook.
