Office Closing

City Offices will be closed on Friday, March 30, 2018.

Easter Egg Hunt

The City of Dexter is proud to host the 8th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 31, 2018! Come for a fun-filled family experience with live bunnies, egg scrambles, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and face painting! The event will be held at Community Park (3575 Ryan Dr.). The Easter Bunny will be at the Park from 10am – 11am, and the Easter egg scrambles will begin promptly at 10:30am.

Advance tickets are $2 per child or $4 for two or more children. Tickets at the event will be $3 per child or $5 for two or more children. To purchase advance tickets, please visit the Dexter City Office at 8123 Main St., Second Floor of the PNC Bank building. Dexter Art Gardens Temporary Sculpture Display Call for Entries

The “Dexter Art Gardens” is an annual outdoor artwork exhibition sponsored by the Dexter Arts, Culture & Heritage Committee and the City of Dexter. Three (3) temporary outdoor artworks will be juried and placed on temporary display along with the City’s permanent collection for one (1) year: June 2018 – May 2019. The selected pieces will be installed on concrete pads in highly trafficked locations throughout Dexter. Submitting an application via the CaFE site is free. The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2018.

Summer Help

The City is seeking applications for temporary summer help. This position is in the Department of Public Works and will assist with mowing lawns as well as general maintenance. Work hours for this position are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from May/June through August/September (depending on availability). Applicants must be 18 or older. Public Hearing Notices

The following are public hearing notices for the City of Dexter:

The Planning Commission will hold two Public Hearings on Monday, April 2, 2018  at 7:00 p.m. at the Dexter Senior Center (7720 Ann Arbor St). 

The purpose of the first public hearing is to consider text amendments to the City of Dexter Zoning Ordinance to regulate temporary employment housing.

The purpose of the second public hearing is to consider the proposed City of Dexter 2018-2022 Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), and take comments from the public. The CIP is a program that projects and coordinates public expenditures for improvements to the transportation and utility systems, municipal facilities, and other improvements over a six-year period. Preparation of the capital improvements plan is done under the authority of PA 33 of 2008.  It is the City Planning Commission’s goal that the CIP be used as a tool to implement the City’s Master Plan and assist in the City’s financial planning.

City Council will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, April 9, 2018  at 7:00 p.m. at the Dexter Senior Center (7720 Ann Arbor St). 

The purpose of the public hearing is to receive feedback regarding a proposed resolution that, in accordance with Michigan State Law, would change the date of city elections from the odd year cycle to the even year cycle. Enactment of this election date change would also extend the terms of sitting City Council Members and the Mayor by one year.
