Pioneer High School club hosts Earth Day for elementary school students

The Sustainability Coalition Club at Pioneer will host its first Earth Day from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on April 20 at Pioneer High School. The event is aimed at elementary schoolers from second to fifth grades.

“Our goal is to create more awareness about the environment in a fun and interactive way,” said Pioneer student Katie Wolber, one of the organizers. “There will be many activities including building bird feeders, salad from local farms, seed planting, face painting, an invasive/endangered species activity, a tour of our greenhouse, a recycling game, and an animal adoption raffle. The winner of the animal will be allowed to name the animal we adopt and will receive a stuffed animal toy of the animal as well.

“We are hoping this event will be successful so that we can turn it into a yearly event.”

There is a sign up to attend this free event on the group’s web site: pihisustainability.com.
