Softball: Greenhills’ rally falls short against Plymouth Christian Academy


The Greenhills softball team rallied from a 6-3 deficit but fell short in an 11-10 loss on Monday to host Plymouth Christian Academy.

Down three runs after four innings, the Gryphons scored three in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take a 9-7 lead. But it didn’t last long as Plymouth Christian answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Greenhills scored a run in the seventh before Plymouth Christian closed the door for good and held on for the win.

The Gryphons had 12 hits on the day but five errors in the field.
Elise Coulthard went to the circle for Greenhills. She went six innings, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits and striking out six.

Izzy Mossel toed the rubber for Plymouth Christian Academy. She lasted seven innings, allowing 12 hits and 10 runs while striking out five.

Emily Wang, Jessy Simmer, Lexi Streicher and Storm Curtis each racked up multiple hits for Greenhills. Wang led the Gryphons with three hits in four at bats. Elise Blochwitz had two RBI in the loss. Greenhills had three players steal at least two bases led by Simmer with three.

Mossel, Katelyn Grajewski and Lydia Sikes all had multiple hits for Plymouth Christian Academy. PCA stole eight bases during the game.
