REI Awards Grant To The Friends Of The Border To Border Trail

From Friends of the Border to Border Trail:

As part of its Stewardship Grant program, REI Co-Op (www.rei.com) has awarded the Friends of the Border to Border Trail (www.bordertoborder.org) a $10,000 grant to help support trail enhancements, such as bicycle repair stands, along the Border To Border (B2B) Trail in Washtenaw County, Michigan.

The bicycle repair stands, made by Dero, will be installed along the B2B Trail and include bicycle tools, a tire pump, air gauge, as well as a work rack, for users to perform basic maintenance, repairs or change a flat.

Since 1976, REI Co-Op and the REI Foundation have invested more than $87 million in organizations across the country that share REI’s goal of creating access to outdoor places and enabling transformational experiences in the outdoors for all people. Each year, the Co-Op invests in local, regional, and national nonprofits throughout the country. At the very local level, our outdoor programs and outreach teams work with local store managers to identify partners that REI invites to apply for grants. Applications are evaluated according to the applicant’s ability to successfully maintain and enhance diverse, accessible, and popular areas where our members play outdoors.

The Friends of the Border To Border Trail sincerely thank the generosity of REI and is proud to work with the outdoor retailer to build greater awareness of and engagement in your efforts to steward and/or increase access to the outdoor recreation places where REI members and customers, who funded this grant, play.
