Boys Track: Pioneer second, Skyline fourth, Huron fifth at SEC Red meet


The Pioneer boys’ track and field team scored 121.8 points to finish second on Saturday at the SEC Red Meet at Huron High School. Saline ran first with 200.8 points followed by the Pioneers, Bedford (88), Skyline (78.3), Huron (78) and Monroe (59).

Huron senior Lewis Willis sprinted to first place in the 100 meters with a time of 11.29 while teammate Ashton Sanders was third (11.33). Skyline’s Myles Miller was fourth (11.44) and Pioneer’s Lael Onifade was fifth (11.45).

Willis won the 200 meters in 22.50. Huron’s Kyle Martin was fourth (23.12) and Skyline’s Bola Kolawole was sixth (23.55).

The Eagles landed four-five in the 400 meters with Savante Daniel (52.49) and TJ Dokas (53.45). Pioneer’s Logan Jacobs was eighth (54.0).

The local teams went one-two-three in the 800 meters. Pioneer senior Netunji Paige was first in 1:53.64; Huron’s Connor Wright was second (1:55.12) and Skyline’s Jesse Edelstein third (1:55.96). Skyline’s Anthony Giannobile was fifth (2:00.75).

Pioneer junior Nick Foster won the 1600 meters in 4:15.03. Skyline’s Jesse Edelstein was third (4:19.51) and teammate Giannobile was fourth (4:21.05). Pioneer’s Jack Wallace was fifth (4:22.06).

Pioneer’s Ethan Mielock was second (9:42.73) in the 3200 meters followed by teammate John Florence in third (9:44.22).

Pioneer sophomore Leo Gabaron won the 110 hurdles in 15.41. Teammate Derek Yang was fourth (16.92). Skyline’s Logan Clark was sixth (17.14) and Huron’s Trevor Kieft was seventh (17.26).

The Pioneers went one-two in the 300 hurdles with Gabaron first (40.79) and Yang second (41.99). Huron’s Frank Seidl was sixth (43.32).

Huron’s 400 relay team of Ashton Sanders, Ibraheem Joseph, Charles Ramsey and Lewis Willis crossed first in 44.17.

Pioneer’s team of Travis Burke, Leo Gabaron, Lael Onifade and Jacob Williams ran third in the 800 relay in 1:33.83. Skyline’s team of Myles Miller, Bola Kolawole, Thomas Crawford and Wesley Brightmon was fourth in 1:34.01.

Skyline’s team of Anthony Giannobile, Savante Daniel, Wesley Brightmon and Jesse Edelstein won the 1600 relay in 3:31.63.

Skyline’s team of Anthony Giannobile, Garrett Peck, Jesse Edelstein and Daniel Evans was second in the 3200 relay in 8:00.26. Pioneer’s team of Aldo Pando-Girard, Michael Shkolnik, Netunji Paige and Nick Foster was third in 8:10.72.

Pioneer’s Dennis Simmons was fifth in the shot put (43-04.5).

Huron senior Trevor Kieft won the high jump with a leap of 5-07. Skyline’s Davion Pipkins (5-05) and Pioneer’s Chris Wilson (5-05) tied for second.

Skyline’s Logan Clark was second in the pole vault (12-07) and Pioneer’s Derek Yang was fourth (11-07).

Pioneer’s Travis Burke was fifth in the long jump (18-03) followed by Huron’s Joshua Meeks (17-10) and Pioneer’s Logan Jacobs (17-10).
