Districts: Baseball, softball teams begin playoffs this week

 

Let the games begin. Both softball and baseball begin the postseason on Tuesday in the opening of District play. Here is a local at the local teams.

Baseball

Huron plays Pioneer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Saline HS. The winner will play Ypsilanti at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 in a semifinal game. On the other side of the bracket, Belleville plays Ypsilanti Lincoln with the winner playing the Hornets in the semifinal game. The finals are at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Skyline heads out to Howell for its District tournament. The Eagles have a bye in the first round and will play host Howell in the semifinals at noon on Saturday. The other side of the bracket features Brighton vs. Dexter in the opener with the winner playing Pinckney. The finals are at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Softball

The Pioneers will face Belleville in an opening-round game at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with the winner playing Saline at noon on Saturday in the semifinals. Huron drew a bye in the first round and will face the winner of Ypsilanti-Lincoln at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Saline. The finals are at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Skyline gets a first-round bye in their District at Howell. The Eagles will face the winner of Brighton-Dexter in the second round at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Howell plays Pinckney in the other side of the bracket. The finals are at 2 p.m. on Saturday. All games are at Howell.

  • The Huron-Pioneer was a great game Tuesday. Huron prevailed 3-2 in pitchers duel. Both teams made great plays and “left it all on the field”. The game was a pleasure to watch.
