“Families Belong Together” protest is June 30 at The Diag

The June 30th protests are on and organizers say they are doubling down on them. The “Families Belong Together” event will be from 11 a.m .to 1 p.m. at The Diag.

Organizers say: “The Administration is shifting, thanks to public organizing and pressure, away from unapologetically separating families. But their “solution” to the crisis they created is baby jails — babies, kids, and families will be detained indefinitely. And there’s no plan for reunification of the thousands of families who were already torn apart — with children shipped all over the country away from their parents.”

The group’s posture is:

— Let’s be clear that this response from the Administration wouldn’t have happened without all the outrage — AND be clear the crisis isn’t CLOSE to solved yet
— We will triple down on our organizing for June 30. Don’t let our feet off the gas. We have momentum.
— We will shift our demands towards “Reunite the families. Close the baby jails. And fire the abusers”
