Washtenaw County Commissioner Kent Martinez-Kratz has announced his candidacy for re-election. He has proudly served as the District One Commissioner for three terms.
“As County Commissioner, I have been dedicated to maintaining Washtenaw County as an attractive place to live, work, and raise a family. During my tenure, property values have risen for six straight years. The county has reduced their debt by 60 million dollars and has an AAA bond rating. Communities in Western Washtenaw County have strong employment opportunities and are magnets for businesses like Gestamp which is investing in their Chelsea operations. The Border to Border trail continues to expand and offer residents safe recreation options.”
Commissioner Martinez-Kratz is committed to the environment and continues to serve as the Liaison to CARD (the Coalition for Action on Remediation of Dioxane) and actively advocates to keep our air, water, and rivers safe.
Commissioner Martinez-Kratz serves on the:
● Washtenaw Community Mental Health Board
● Community Mental Health Partnership of Southeast Michigan Board
● CARD, Coalition for Action on Remediation of Dioxane
● Washtenaw County Police Services Steering Committee
● Local Emergency Planning Committee.
Prior to being elected, Commissioner Martinez-Kratz served for seven years on the Chelsea City Council and was a past Chelsea Recreation Board Member. He lives in Chelsea with his wife Marina and three children, Max, Jesse and Sierra.
