St. Joseph Catholic Church will be hosting their annual Summer Festival this weekend, July 20-22, at their campus on the corner of Mast Road and North Territorial Road.
The family-oriented event has long been a staple of summer fun and began 40 years ago when in 1978 parishioner Mary Romine held a fund raiser to support a refugee family from Vietnam. The event was an instant success and was repeated the next year, and then the next, and the next, becoming a community tradition.
The fundraiser has since grown into a three-day event now known as “The Festival at St. Joseph Church” which includes a Friday night concert, a craft show, and a classic car show. Parents looking for some weekend summer fun with their kids can stop in for games and entertainment for the whole family. The Festival is open to all and everyone is welcome.
The Festival at St. Joseph Church is still a fundraiser at heart with 10% of the money collected going to Washtenaw County charities and the remainder used for church campus care and parish projects.

Friday, July 20,
6:00 Teen Café for ages 13 and up. Admission is $7.
7:00 Kickoff Concert, My Favorite Things: Celebrating the Music of Julie Andrews, featuring Diane Penning and Paul Langford. Tickets are available at the door and cost $15.
Saturday, July 21
Noon-8:00 Craft Tent, Drop-in Bingo, Cake Walk Game, Country Bake Shoppe, Children’s Games, and Inflatables.
1:00-3:00 Classic Car Show
1:00-10:00 Live Entertainment for adults and children: Chelsea House Orchestra, Nelson the Animal Guy, Jumpin’ All Star Jump Rope Team, Eric the Juggler, Brian Delaney Quartet, and Men in Black.
Sunday, July 22
Noon-6:00 Drop-in Bingo, Craft Tent, Children’s Games and Inflatable, Country Bake Shoppe, Cake Walk, and a Chicken Dinner for dining in or taking home.
Live Entertainment for adults and children: Encore Cabaret Singer, Colors the Clown, Ian Stewart, Randy Kaplan, and the Kielbasa Kings, Polka Band.
