Area Youth Set to Compete This Week at Washtenaw County 4-H Fair

The 2018 Washtenaw County 4-H Show begins today, July 22, and runs through the week at the Washtenaw Farm Council Fairgrounds located at 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Rd.

More than 800 youth will show their livestock and demonstrate their handling skills in judged competitions. In addition to livestock, the kids will display their talents in painting, photography, and literature. Grown crops and flowers will also be on display.

Parking and admission are free.

Here’s a schedule of some of the events:

  • Sunday, July 22, 5:30 p.m. – Youth Show Opening Ceremony
  • Monday, July 23, 3 p.m. – Cat show
  • Monday, July 23, 6 p.m. – Horse & Pony Color Guard
  • Tuesday, July 24, 9 a.m. – Llama Showmanship
  • Tuesday, July 24, 4 p.m. – Beef Breeding and Showmanship
  • Tuesday, July 24, 8 p.m. – Dair Goat 12 Hour Milkout
  • Wednesday, July 25, 8 a.m. – Swine showmanship
  • Wednesday, July 25, 8 a.m. – Horse & Pony Saddle Seat and Western Performance Classes
  • Wednesday, July 25, 2 p.m. – Llama Leaping Contest
  • Thursday, July 26, 8 a.m. – Horse & Pony Hunt Seat Performances
  • Thursday, July 26, 10 a.m. – Horse & Pony English/Western Riding Pattern
  • Thursday, July 26, 6:30 p.m. – Livestock auction
  • Friday, July 26, 1 p.m. – Archery contest
  • Friday, July 26, 5 p.m. – 4H Advisory Council BBQ dinner
  • Friday, July 26, 7 p.m. – Sweepstakes Showmanship and senior recognition
