I-94 Closure Again This Weekend In Ongoing Project

Eastbound I-94 will be closed again this weekend for resurfacing work.

From 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, MDOT is continuing their resurfacing project on the 9.2 miles between M-14 and US-23.

The $7.2 million project began July 27 and is expected to run through November 1.  Motorists can expect nightly lane and ramp closures along with weekend freeway closures through November. Detours will be posted for drives.  There is no word yet as to if the closures will occur during U of M home football games.

Detours will be posted for drivers.

For this coming weekend’s closure, MDOT suggests the following detours:

  • Eastbound I-94: take eastbound M-14 to southbound US-23 to get back to eastbound I-94.
  • Westbound I-94 ramp to northbound US-23: take westbound US-12 to northbound US-23.
  • Northbound US-23 ramp to eastbound I-94: take eastbound US-12 to eastbound I-94.
  • Northbound US-23 ramp to westbound I-94: take eastbound US-12 to westbound I-94.
