Aug. 16 – Caitlyn Smith wsg The Zindles
Bank of Ann Arbor’s Sonic Lunch concert series is down to the final three weeks of its 11th season at Liberty Plaza, and headlining the August 16th show will be Americana singer-songwriter Caitlyn Smith.
Smith is an artist who showcases her own material and also writes songs for others. Compositions of hers have been covered by John Legend, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks and James Bay — all major players in the music business. As for her own career as a singer, Caitlyn has won accolades from Rolling Stone magazine, which praised her “soaring and expressive” voice and named her of their 10 New Artists You Need to Know. She was also selected as one of the top female vocalists by Billboard magazine’s SXSW 2017 Music Discovery panel.
A native of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, Caitlyn Smith is touring in support of her major-label debut album Starfire. Influenced by classic pop and country, she has a captivating voice and major songwriting abilities.
Opening the show at 11:30 a.m. that morning will be Zindles. This will be the very first public performance by siblings Erin Zindle and TJ Zindle of the Ragibirds! Erin and TJ are making it clear that this is not a scaled back, unplugged version of the Ragbirds. Zindles will feature all new tunes written by the two in a true collaborative spirit. — Martin Bandyke, morning host on ann arbor’s 107one.
