Skyline golf team tees up third-place finish among state’s best

The Skyline girls’ golf team teed it up with some of the top teams in the state on Thursday at the Highest Honors Golf Tournament. The Eagles fired a team score of 361 on the Huron Meadows Metropark course in Brighton to finish tied for third place.

Bloomfield Hills HS shot a team score of 313 to finish first overall in the 22-team field. Plymouth was second (318) with Skyline, Salem and Northville (361) all tied for third. Berkley was sixth (369), Cranbrook-Kingswood seventh (380) and South Lyon East eighth (383).

Ann Arbor Greenhills placed 17th on the day with a 434.

“It was a great first tournament of the season for the varsity,” said Skyline Coach Ashley Mantha. “Thunderstorms stayed away long enough to finish the full 18. For a point of reference, the previous best team score was a 357 at last year’s Regional tournament.”

The Eagles were led by Nikki Lama (88), Cammi Tirico (89), Addy Meadows (89), Adie Maki (95) and Amber Hing (98).

Greenhills’ foursome featured Aarushi Ganguly (82), Augie Guo (111), Jillian White (119) and Sabeen Malik (122).

The Eagles next tee it up on Monday, Aug. 20 at the Vandercook Invitational on the Sharp Park Golf Course in Jackson.
