Dr. Jeanice K. Swift, Superintendent of Schools for the Ann Arbor Public Schools, is pleased to announce the selection of Dante A. Watson as Principal of Haisley Elementary School.
Watson has over 13 years of experience as an educator in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. He began his career as a classroom teacher at Logan Elementary where he spent eleven years and taught grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 over the course of his tenure at Logan. He moved into administration during the 2016-2017 school year and has served as the Assistant Principal at Lawton Elementary for the past two years.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Ecology with a major in Human Development and Family Science and a Specialization in Early Childhood Development and Education and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education from Ohio State University. He also earned an Administrator Certification from Eastern Michigan University.
“Mr. Watson’s practical experience as a teacher, his demonstrated commitment in service to children alongside his strong academic preparation give Mr. Watson a depth and breadth of professional knowledge that will serve the Haisley community well,” shares Superintendent Jeanice Swift. He writes, “It is truly an honor to become a member of the Haisley family. I look forward to partnering with the staff, parents and community members to ensure that every student will experience social, emotional and academic success.”
