Football: Skyline falls 39-7 to Monroe in SEC showdown


Skyline’s road to its first ever playoff spot took a big hit on Friday night as the Eagles were grounded by SEC White Division foe Monroe 39-7.

Skyline falls to 2-2 on the season.

The loss ended Skyline’s two-game winning streak after knocking of Okemos and Adrian. The now hit the road to face powerhouse Saline. The Hornets improved to 4-1 on the season following Friday’s 31-26 win over Bedford.

Monroe improved to 3-1 on the season.

Monroe’s Jared Banks had 257 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries as the Eagles had no answer for the Trojans ground game.

The Eagles were coming off an impressive 41-12 win at Adrian and knocked off Okemos 27-15 in week two following an opening loss to Warren Mott in the Big House.

After Saline, the Eagles face Huron, Bedford, Pioneer and Pinckney.
