Girls Cross Country: Pioneer’s Forsyth wins Jackson Invitational

Ninth-grader Sarah Forsyth finished first overall at the Jackson Invitational Cross Country meet on Saturday at Ella Sharp Park in the Jackson. Forsyth finished in 18 minutes, 01.6 seconds for the Pioneers, beating out White Lake Lakeland’s Madeline Rehm (18:04.5) for the top spot.

The Pioneers ran in sixth place in the 22-team field. Salem took first with 110 points followed by Clarkston (112), Northville (115), Saline (121), Traverse City West (126) and Pioneer (136).

Pioneer’s Anna Vogel had an impressive race. The junior placed seventh overall with a time of 18:33.6. Senior Mallory Dawes landed in the top 30 with her 28th place time of 19:24.4.

Also running for the Pioneers: senior Emily Rennich (45th, 19:48.4), senior Ella Ryan (61st, 20:21.4), junior Carina Sanborn (96th, 21:15.7), and junior Danielle Armstrong (102nd, 21:22.2).
