The Dexter soccer team had trouble putting the ball in the net last week but still came away with a tie earlier in the week.
On Thursday, the Dreadnaughts fell to Jackson 2-0.
Dexter carried the play in the first half, outshooting Jackson 6-2. But Jackson capitalized on a Dexter foul and scored on a free kick that was headed in at the far post with less than 2 minutes in the first half.
Jackson carried the play early in the second half until Dexter found their rhythm creating many good scoring chances, but could not find the back of the net.
Late in the game with Dexter pushing forward, Jackson was dangerous multiple times and eventually attacked on the left wing with a nice cross in the box that resulted in a scrum in front of the goal. A Jackson player found the ball and put it in the back of the net to put the game out of reach.
On Tuesday, Dexter played Tecumseh to a 1-1 draw.
Dexter and Tecumseh soccer games are always interesting and competitive. The teams have different styles of play with Dexter playing a possession style and Tecumseh playing an organized and potent counter attacking style.
Dexter drew first blood on a goal from Hayden Newton on a pass from Sam Harshe.
Tecumseh equalized the game early in the second half on a corner kick that went in untouched at the far post. Dexter had a majority of the possession and a number of quality scoring chances while Tecumseh sat back and created their own chances on quality fast paced counter attacks.
Dexter plays Tuesday at Lincoln and at Chelsea on Thursday.
