Boys Cross Country: Huron runs third at Coaching Legends Classic  

 

The Huron boys’ cross country team put on an impressive display on Saturday at the annual A2 Run Co High School Coaching Legends Classic at Huron Meadows in Brighton. The River Rats scored 123 points, just one shy of taking second place in the 18-team field.

Plymouth ran first with 40 points while Grosse Pointe North took second with 122. After Huron’s 123, Hartland was fourth (133), Romeo fifth (159) and Holt sixth (167).

The River Rats were led across the finish line by Karsin Dass. The junior ran a time of 16 minutes, 18.3 seconds to finish ninth overall. Plymouth’s Carter Solomon took first overall in 15:24.8.

Senior James Cardwell was 29th overall in 16:55.7 and sophomore Donovan Smith ran 33rd in 17:03.5 to give the River Rats three runners among the top 35. Senior Robert Burke was 54th in 17:17.1; senior Drake Dowdy was 72nd in 17:32.2; sophomore Michael Hill-Carruthers was 78th in 17:39.4; sophomore Evan Ridenour was 88th in 17:48.6; and junior Matthew Penoyar was 96th in 17:57.3.
