Destination AA hosts event for Under the Radar Michigan show

Destination Ann Arbor is happy to announce a viewing party and book signing with Emmy Award-winning PBS television show, Under the Radar Michigan.

On Oct. 18 at 8:30 p.m., PBS will air a new Under the Radar episode featuring Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, and Saline businesses and organizations including Miss Kim (Ann Arbor), Michigan Firehouse Museum (Ypsilanti), Dom Bakeries (Ypsilanti), Urban Ashes (Saline), and David Zinn’s whimsical chalk art. To celebrate the episode, a viewing party will take place at Sidetrack Bar & Grill in Ypsilanti’s Depot Town.

“Sidetrack is the perfect place for us to celebrate Under the Radar Michigan’s newest episode,” said Mary Kerr, President and CEO of Destination Ann Arbor. “Coming off the heels of East Cross Street’s designation by the American Planning Association as one of the ‘Great Places in America’, Depot Town is an exciting place to be! We’re proud to showcase a new, vibrant episode of Under the Radar Michigan – in one of the Washtenaw County communities featured in this new episode.”

The media, and fans of Under the Radar Michigan and its famously mustached host, Tom Daldin, are encouraged to attend, and Tom is expected to sign autographs and chat with fans. Additionally, prolific artist David Zinn will be in attendance. The party will take place from 7:30 – 9 p.m.

“We always get excited when heading back to film in Ann Arbor and its surrounding communities,” explains Tom Daldin. “It really is one of the great historical, cultural, and culinary hubs of Michigan. We’re planning many more creative and innovative collaborations for the future. Our job is to showcase the best our great state has to offer and in the Ann Arbor area, that’s easy to do.”

This new episode will mark the sixth Under the Radar Michigan episode featuring Ann Arbor, in addition to several past episodes and YouTube videos featuring other Washtenaw County communities including Ypsilanti, Dexter, Saline, Chelsea, Manchester, and Milan.

Destination Ann Arbor is a 501 (c)6 not-for-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the economy of Washtenaw County through promotion of the area as a destination for day and overnight visitors.

Under the Radar Michigan is a ten-time Emmy Award-winning television show that explores everything from restaurants and museums to cool businesses, neighborhoods and buildings. Airing on PBS stations across Michigan and in Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, and 2.5 million homes in Canada, Under the Radar’s objective is to discover the people, places, and things that make Michigan the place to be.
