Girls Cross Country: Pioneers dominate annual Ypsi RunCo River Rat Open

 

Sarah Forsyth took second, Zofia Dudek ran third and the Pioneer girls’ cross country team placed four runners in the top 11 to run away with the 13th annual Ypsi RunCo River Rat Open last Friday at Willow Metropark.

The Pioneers finished with 37 points, well ahead of second-place Northville (52). Highland-Milford was third (70), Saline fourth (126) and Bloomfield Hills Marian fifth (183).

Huron ran 10th with 245 points in the 17-team field.

Forsyth, only a freshman, finished in 18:09.3 to take second. Highland-Milford’s Victoria Heiligenthal was first overall in 17:43.8. Dudek, a junior, ran 18:29.4 to take third for the Pioneers.

Junior Anna Vogel was fifth in 18:53.3 and freshman Charlotte Batra was 11th in 19:19.0 for Pioneer. Also running well for the Pioneers were senior Mallory Dawes (16th, 19:28.9); senior Emily Rennich (22nd, 19:43.6); junior Carina Sanborn (39th, 20:10.5); senior Ella Ryan (49th, 20:37.1); junior Danielle Armstrong (50th, 20:40.6); and sophomore Anna Dudek (53rd, 20:45.0).

Huron was led by senior Callie Hastie who ran 24th in 19:47.9, sophomore Sam Hastie (27th, 19:54.7) and junior Helena Helme (48th, 20:35.1).
