Golf State Finals: Pioneers finish 12th in Division 1; FGR 16th in D-4  

 

After finishing third at last week’s Regionals, the Pioneers’ golf team teed it up this past weekend at the MHSAA state finals at Bedford Valley CC in Battle Creek. The Pioneers fired an impressive 728 to place 12th overall in the 18-team Division 1 field.

Northville finished first overall with a 630 team score, followed by Plymouth (661), Traverse City West (664), Bloomfield Hills (670) and Brighton (675).

Anika Dy of Traverse City West was the top individual with a 68-72 for a 140.

The Pioneers fired a 356 on the opening day followed by a 372 for a 728 total. Amaya Melendez led the way for the Pioneers with a 83-85 for a 168 total. The rest of the Pioneer scorecard featured Claire Middleton – 87 – 90 – 177; SooahJung -88 -96-184; Olivia Lyle/ Katie Liu – 106-101-207; and J. Giordano/Erica Liu – 98 -114-212.

Skyline sent two golfer to the state finals. Adie Maki fired an 84-85 for a 169 total. Nikki Lama shot a 91-101 for a 192 total.

Division 4

Father Gabriel Richard shot a team score of 862 to place 16th at the Division 4 state finals at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University. Harbor Springs finished first overall with a score of 730.

Father Gabriel Richard shot 425 on the first day and 437 on the second day. The Irish were led by Julia Stowe – 94 – 106 – 200; Grace Betley – 109 – 103 – 212; Caitlin Magolan – 105 – 107 – 212; Gabi Jacobs – 117 – 121 – 238; and Annie Pintar/Claire Peters – 137 – 141 – 278.

Greenhills sent two golfers to the state finals. Aarushi Ganguly (104 – 95 for a 199) and Euna Lee both competed for the Gryphons.
