Excellent for Dexter Students (E4DS) presented Dexter Community Schools Board of Education with their latest fund-raising contribution of $40,000 at last night’s BOE meeting.
The money will go toward district programming in an effort to help offset the shortfall of state funding for schools. E4DS has raised and donated a total of $127,000 since the fall of 2016.
Among other things, Dexter’s school district plans to use the donation to send sixth graders to EMU for a science and technology camp as well as other education opportunities for grades 3-6.
“The E4DS Board has begun discussion with the district and Board of Ed regarding future programming needs,” commented E4DS Board President Elise Bruderly. “We expect to be reaching out to the community as we review our past contributions and look towards future district needs. E4DS is aware that that DCS is actively looking to expand mental health services and supports and this is an area we will be continuing to talk to the district about.”
